How does animation generate comedy?

I done a review on an article called common strategies of animated comedy written by Joe yang. I found this article to be very useful as it explains the how comedy animation creates humour. Joe yang who is a independent film maker who specialise in animated comedy made some valid points on this article as writes his personal thoughts on how to make people laugh. He takes a look at recent popular animated shows and movies like family guy, Simpson and Shrek and analysis the major strategies they use to create humour. He fist explains the important of parody. This evolves how the animation makes silly-remarks or comments on well known genres, films, TV shows, famous people and major historical events. This is useful because is catches the audience by surprise which can laughter. He speaks about the advantages and disadvantages and makes mention the jokes should be based on a well-known source which the audience can relate to AND get right away really like how he mentions that bad and poorly drawn animated characters and backgrounds can easily generate humour then with a more realistic looks because the exaggerated.
