The Evolution of Comedy

I did a review on an article called “The Evolution of Comedy” as it describes comedy in animation and how it evolved through the century when it began. It’s also describes the process and how It has shifted and changed into what we see in our TVs today. In this article it first defines the fundamental on what comedy is; Comedy is weighed primarily on humour. It has happy stories and the purpose is just to make the viewers laugh, Ever since the early 90s when it first began it has never failed to bore the audience through the ages. In the era of silent movies comedy had no verbal communication, which had to only rely on parody and exaggerations to excite humouring. In the 1920's, comedy in animation cartoons became popular as the characters were fashioned to give a more appealing look. The article mentions few popular names like Felix the Cat, Betty Boop and Krazy Kat, this title were well known and respected for the time and quality the animators put in these characters. Towards the end of the 1920s sounds was introduced in movies as it started the use of verbal humour. Its mentions how parody was replaced by dialogue films comedians like W.C Fields and the Marx Brothers. Physical comedy was no longer a necessity because verbal interaction was more appreciated by the audience. The article also speaks how comedy was used during the World War I. military themes were such a hit in the industry. And it speaks how Comedy was focused on civil defence, service, boot-camp and shore leave. In the 1950's, comedy animation was introduced on TV. It first began to show family comedy because of this reason but towards the end of 1950's, darker humour began to rise; what a good introduction to bring in dark humour if you ask me. I really like this article because it makes some very important historical facts and reference about comedy animation.
