I did a review on an article called Animation Comedy and Gag Writing. This amazing article was released in November the 08 2002 by Jean Ann Wright. I found this article to be very useful for future purpose as an animator as it describes and makes valuable reference on how to make your audience laugh; it speaks about the importance of humour or comedy and the effects it could have on the audience. Jean describes how in comedy we set up a situation, increase the tension, and suddenly come with something unexpected which causes our Emotions to gush out and explode in laughter. she also explains that comedy is a contrast between two incompatible frames of reference linked in an unexpected and sudden way, which could lead the audience down for a surprise; Surprise is very important in comedy as it brings an unexpected thing that leads to a reaction in laughter; I agree with her, the bigger the surprise, the bigger the laughter. Repression is also important as it can contribute to a bigger laugh this article says. The article describes how Repression is the reason that causes humour; Depending upon the audience’s attitude towards the comedy. Now most important for comedy in animation it describes how it uses motion and misuses the laws of physics to exaggerate comedy. It gives tips makes valid points on how to write funny scripts and comedy devices which could be useful for any armature animator or producer if they want to create comedy.
